There are hotels that promise you heaven and earth, even the moon.
Sea Coral Lodge in Coron is not one of those hotels.
In fact, it doesn’t boast any bragging rights, except that it is a Biyahe ni Drew-recommended hotel. That straightforwardness is what I like most about it.
So in the spirit of being upfront, I’ll keep this review short and straightforward too, and give you four reasons why Sea Coral Lodge is worth checking out if you’re on a hunt for practical stays in Coron.
1. Cheap, clean, no-fuss rooms
We were provided one triple sharing room per pair: one for Chanel and Gay‘s, and another for me and the fam. While compact, the rooms are adequately furnished with basic essentials: two semi-double beds, AC in perfect condition, towels and basic toiletries, private bathroom with hot and cold shower, closet with hangers, fan, cable TV, bedside table, and free WiFi access. Able to accommodate up to three persons, the triple room has one double bed and one single bed, and costs only P1,500 (or P500/person/night).
Other rooms available are:
- Standard room – P1,000; one double bed
- Twin room – P1,020; two single beds
- Family room – P2,500; two double beds + two single beds
The rooms are pretty clean. We didn’t encounter usual Tripadvisor complaints: ants or roaches, musty smell, leaky or grimy bathroom. Probably why it’s ranked #9 out of 26 specialty lodging in Coron.
2) Convenient location that’s near it all
Sea Coral Lodge’s roadside location is highly strategic. It’s within the poblacion where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance, but far enough from the hubbub. We’ve never had a problem with noise in our two-day stay there.
There’s a souvenir shop downstairs and another from across the street. Within five minutes is the port, where all island hopping tours commence. If DIY island hopping is on your itinerary, buy supplies from the public market next the night before. That’s what we did and we just requested that the meat be stored in their fridge – which they gladly obliged to.
3) A common veranda with a fantastic view
4) Nice extras you need for a Coron vacation
