While people across the globe took 2012 with a grain of salt (with the apocalyptic December 21 Mayan prophecy looming in view) I spent half of the year homed in like a monk, maid-less (still am) and being pregnant then being a full-time mom/ wife/ homebased writer. Most times I yearned to be transported back to those youthful days when I gobbled down adventure like there’s no tomorrow.
The diaper bag gets to travel far. |
Dissatisfied with sunsets and flowers during walks at dusk, my earnest desire to go away from here for a taste of things out of the ordinary became inconveniently intense by the day. And so the second half of the year saw me getting my wandering groove back, albeit very gradually, in consideration to the new dictator queen in the house. Here are a few snapshots of those gradual 2012 indulgences.
2012 wasn’t bad at all, and it made me excited to think of the possibilities brimming in 2013, now that my daughter is hardy enough for travels (and she likes them too) and I’ve found a newfound pride in womanhood and in breastfeeding discreetly in public.
There’s that 30 before 30 project to accomplish this year and more explorations already planned ahead. I know this sounds crazy for a yaya-less mom with an excessively clingy eight-month old, but I am dead serious about starting out mountain climbing this year. And by that I mean I already have Mt. Manalmon and Mt. Maculot on my list.
They say women were born to complain; that we place such high standards on everything that it’s impossible to please us. And though I admit to have whined and complained (reasonably, might I add), leafing through My Pictures folder and seeing 2012 in a flash, I knew last year, me and my family have been more than blessed.
How about you dearies? How was 2012 for you? What things do you look forward to this 2013?

2012 was pretty tough for us but I was able to survive it. Thank God. Just like you, I still bf my daughter and got my .com domain too before welcoming the 2013! Clap clap!
Btw, my province is near Caramoan but haven't been there! bad 🙁 They always have survivor thingy. And yes, we can enjoy traveling even without YAYAs. It is more fun despite the physical burnout. I salute moms like you!
I look forward to a more prosperous year to US! Cheers! Happy New Year!

2012 was financially tough for us. Despite the negative predictions of the horoscope on my financial status for 2013, I am very optimistic that i will be more financially stable this year. After all, I make my own destiny, not the horoscope.

Congratulations on having your own domain name! 2012 had a bad start for me, I failed a couple of subjects that caused me to have a one year delay in med school. Little did I know, it was also a blessing in disguise. 2012 gave me the opportunity to spend more time with my son. In October 2012, I also started blogging. I was on sem break and didn't have anything to do while waiting for Henry to come home from school. Blogging opened a new world for me, and it had broadened my network.
Hopefully, 2013 will be better. I am looking forward to finishing my school and and starting clerkship this year.

I would love to do that 30 before 30 project. I still have 4 more years including this one. 2012 was the year I opened Party Impressions again and business has been great. Hopefully, 2013 would bring in more blessings to everyone.

Mountaineering with a baby? Why not! =D Just have a baby carrier with you =)
This 2013, my initial plan was to get a professional diploma from Center for Family Ministries at Ateneo. But hubby and I agreed to delay it for one year to wait for my baby's 3rd year. So this year, I'm gearing on attending Toastmasters again to hone my speaking skill. I would also want to improve my writing and homemaking skill. (I love how you write by the way and how your words flow =)
I'm also looking forward to teach my baby the letter of the week program when she turns two this April and of course regular weekly dates with hubby =)

Hi..It's nice to know that you're also interested in mountaineering.. I am a mountaineer myself and 19 weeks pregnant. I missed two climbs in the latter part of 2012 but finally, with my husband and OB's blessing(it was much harder to get my husband's go signal) I'll join an overnight climb in Manalmon next week. Cheers to a travel-filled 2013 for you!

@Mitchelle – That's true. Cliche'd as it sounds, we do make our own destinies 🙂 Here's hoping for a better year for you.
@Ditas – I admire you for being able to balance med school with parenthood (and still have times for blogging, hehe 🙂 ). It's surely not an easy feat.
@Evalyn – go, go, go! Still four more years to accomplish what you want to do before you celebrating being 30!
@Nova – Aaaw…thank you! It sure looks like 2013 would be a very busy year for you. Congratulations is already in order 🙂
@April – A 19-week pregnant mountaineer climbing Manalmon – sure sounds like a big adventure! Can I just say, sobrang inggiiit ako! haha. Take care and I hope you have a refreshing climb next week.
