The long Holy Weekend. What could ever be more relaxing than 4 straight days of sober fun, closed malls, and pescetarian diet?
For most of us Filipinos, we take this opportunity to escape the deafening quietude by hitting nearby beaches and resorts. Before I got married, one of those resorts was Splash Mountain Resort along Calamba Highway in Laguna (Crystal Spring Resort was also a favorite of ours but it closed down well before I got married).

Note: That time dates back to polaroids, so pardon the low-res pics.
Like most, if not, all resorts in Calamba, Splash Mountain features a variety of man-made pools with natural spring water sourced from nearby Mount Makiling. There used to be about 4 or 5. After expansion, there are now 19.

The resort comes off as unpretentious though pretty much equipped with the essentials and nice-to-have’s: conference rooms, kiddie and adult slides, open cottages and shower areas, great food, clean hotel rooms and restaurants. The pools are clean and big enough, and the crowd is more or less, hmm, decent.

What I love above all is the lush scenery surrounding the pool areas. The place seems to have been built off a mountain on the road side, and the trees are still intact, preserved as if a mountain wedge is there.

The rates are very reasonable, too. Below a hundred per head – if I’m not mistaken – for day trippers, plus P400 or so for open cottages. For 19 pools, that ain’t so bad 🙂
How to get there (From the Splash Mountain website):
Public Transportation
For those coming from Manila, aircon buses bound for Sta. Cruz are available at JAMand Tritran bus terminals at LRT station, Buendia. First trip is also at 3:30 am and buses also depart every 15 minutes.

Laguna is definitely a must-visit because of the springs. Will most likely drop by this summer to cool off 🙂

Sis, mukhang nice din ang resort na yan ah. Kalungkot naman na close na pala ang Crystal Spring. I've been there once, grade school pa ako, and fresh na fresh pa din the memories.

I love Laguna hot spring! Kahit sa gabi ok magbabad. We had a memorable stay at a resort there, nasa loob yung pool. Sobrang ok and private talaga. =)

It looks like a very big place. The price is not bad at all.

I haven't seen it recently, but from how it looks on the website, mukhang ang laki na ng ginanda. And still mura nga talaga, lapit pa sa Manila. Go!
Filipina Explorer says
It sure isn't 🙂

Andami pala talagang nakapunta na rito. Maganda naman talaga kasi at ang mura pa. Haven't tried City Spring, will check it out also.
Sad nga, I think they closed down well before 2007 pa. Ganda pa naman dun.
Filipina Explorer says
True! Sulit for people like the hubs who can't stand cold pool water.

Ya so sad, we used to go there too nung elementary ako and high school. I still remember the huge geyser at yung slide na parang private 🙂

And the springs are great too during the rainy season!
